Answer: Yes, When using for ice fishing, it is suggested to dril hole on ice and put the sensor into the water. If you want to detect before drilling on ice, please remove the snow on ice to make sure the ice surface is smooth, and put some water on ice before you put the sensor onto it.

Question: Is it water proof?
Answer: The Sonar Sensor is waterproof, the receiver (unit hold in hand ) is not waterproof. The receiver is proof against few splashed water, but please do not put it into water. If it is dropped into the water accidentally, please pick it up immediately and dry it.
Question: Is the depth measure in only meters?
Answer: It shows meters in default, but you could reset the depth measure in feet when setting the unit. It could show the depth either in meters or in feet.
